The Transplant Athlete is an ultracyclist competing in the 2007 Race Across America traditional solo division - a non-stop, 3000 mile bike race from San Diego to Atlantic City. Race Across America (RAAM) is the most recognized and longest endurance annual cycling event in our world today. Unlike other famous races like le Tour de France, RAAM has no stages or designated rest periods. There is no drafting and the race is live to the very end.

The Transplant Athlete is racing in this year’s RAAM specifically to benefit the mission of The Give Life Foundation and the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and their dedication to promoting greater public awareness on blood, organ and tissue donation to those desperately in need. By competing in RAAM, we race against time for those who run a more profound race – the race to find a donor in time for a critical organ transplant or blood transfusion that will save their lives.

With your help, we will raise significant financial support for The Give Life Foundation and the National Kidney Foundation (NKF), and in so doing, heighten the nation’s awareness that we can all do more for this important cause. We invite you to use this site to learn more about these issues, and find out how you can help the Transplant Athlete in this important campaign. Please join us!
